198. Sandford, Tasmania - There were muttonbirds too, but they've just sailed away
Acrylics on cotton canvas 60cm h x 75cm w
I visited a friend at Sandford, Tasmania, and was struck by the surreal feel to the landscape in which stood an old and abandoned weatherboard house, incongruously, its surroundings dry, wild, tussocky, and isolated. A large mob of sea birds swam ashore and I realised they were muttonbirds; when I looked again they were gone. I loved that moment.
