220. Lady in the snow
Oils on birch panel 30cm h x 40cm w
A painting about spring: a blackbird flew over my head with an obvious task in mind, while new leaves were unfurling on my "Lady in the snow" apple trees. I love these apples; brilliant white inside with an occasional touch of pink, crisp, a bit tart, but an old variety not common any more as the fruit doesn't keep long once harvested. Apparently they were developed in Quebec in about 1730.
