Friday’s Roast Beef House

91cmx122m acrylics on cotton canvas 2012

There was a restaurant in Ottawa called Friday’s Roast Beef House which used to inhabit an old house.

The city has grown around the old house and as new buildings are put up they get taller and taller and more and more modern. On top we see those functional odd bits and pieces that undermine the cool look of the building, like suave evening attire with the tag sticking up.

I have fun finding the right place for my signature at times, and in this instance have put it on a neon sign on one of the buildings.
