Sandford Tasmania – there were muttonbirds too but they’ve just sailed away

At Sandford in southern Tasmania, the beach and water were covered with muttonbirds one minute and next time I looked they were gone. I wondered about the original inhabitants of the house sitting by itself on the flats and whether they had once depended on muttonbirds for their survival, as did the locals before them.
