Solo dancer

60cmx75cm acrylic and gesso on cotton canvas 2016 Private collection

When I was living in a tiny cottage at Woodbridge in southern Tasmania, I looked out the window and the dress I’d hung on the line reminded me of someone dancing. It took me to all of the women through time, hanging dresses on lines, and thinking of other things they have done or might wish to be doing. And all of the life that clothing has known.

The colour and dots on the dress are remembered from my paternal grandmother.
